Blythe, glad you liked Cornelius Eady's poem. I only wish you could have heard him read it--beautiful. As for Coleman Barks, you know, I appreciate so much his dedication to the poetry of Rumi and how he has given the readers in the West an opportunity to enjoy his poetry. To tell you the truth, I haven't really studied the various translators and have no strong opinion on who might do a better job. If you have a poem or two you can send me I'd be happy to post it. luv

sat nam!sounds like you're having quite the time at the conference. i loved eady's poem - it moves like a song - tells the story, the real story in so few words, which of course, is a part of the definition of a poem. i wondered what you thought of coleman barks. i have heard him read and perform his translations of rumi - and quite frankly, don't like his translations, or the way he comes across. so i look for other translations of rumi - to read what i think was his (rumi's) deeper spirit and love for god. blessings, blythe
