Tamara, you're a complete nut and completely right on! I read your comment to Liza and we laughed hysterically. We feel so much better-misery loves company and all that. Love you!

Love that whole thread--that's why these "retreats" need to be long! I usually start a residency in over-drive-- gessoing tons of canvases the first day and then end up needing to sleep for a couple of days only to wake up and stare in horror at the cavases and it goes something like this...I probably should have just brought paper cause oil will never dry in 3 weeks better get to a hardware store and find enamel.. but the smell is so noxious...but I can't possibly not make something--I mean I got into the residency right--but it was probably luck not talent...and now I just ate the brown bag lunch they provided (so as not to disturb my working) and it's only 10am, but then in my defense in order to get breakfast I had to get up earlier than I am used to (not that I really slept) so maybe I should really just lay back down and try a sort of sivasana-watch-my-mind meditation, but who am I kidding if I lay down now I'm going back to sleep so I'll put another layer of white on the canvases because at least then at dinner (7 hours from now) when someone asks how my work is going I can say...it's going. :-)

Dragons are funny creatures. They have their moods and for now this one has gone back to his lair and gone to sleep after spitting much fire and roaring uncontrollably. Maybe the ladybugs scared him away. Thanks Barry & Blythe for your encouragement! The writing is going well!

Hi Hari,

Hang in there if you can. Thanks for sharing what this experience is really like for you. And I must say that I had to smile in thinking about someone else joining me in the experience of the "Retreat." I completely resonate with your experience of going to a WHOLE lot of trouble just to seemingly find a WHOLE lot MORE trouble! Persist! Turn your Retreat into an ADVANCE! Tell those demons to settle back down and enjoy themselves. Good, good luck and my best wishes that the rest of your retreat is deep and fulfilling.
